a relative My grandmother, Marie, is the most influential person in my life. She is a strong and determined woman who has taught me many lessons throughout my life. Marie was born in a small town in France and immigrated to the United States when she was only 19 years old. She had no family here and spoke little English but that didn’t stop her from making a better life for herself. She worked hard to learn English and eventually got a job as an accountant at an insurance company. She worked there for over 30 years before retiring recently. Marie has always been an incredibly strong woman with a deep faith in God. Growing up, she taught me to be independent, generous and kind to others no matter their background or beliefs. I remember her saying “Never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do” which I still carry with me today as I pursue my dreams of becoming a doctor one day. She has also been incredibly generous throughout her life; always helping out those who are less fortunate than us with whatever means she can provide. When I was younger, she would take me on trips around the world to places like France and Italy where we could learn about different cultures and religions first hand – something that has made me appreciate the world so much more now than ever before! My grandmother is truly an incredible woman who has shaped my life immensely over the past few decades; from teaching me valuable lessons about independence, generosity and kindness to inspiring me through her own actions of hard work and determination – all of which have helped make me into the person I am today!
